Hello Ouran fans! Welcome to the official site for Music Room 3's scanlations. We are a small community, you could say our group motto is 'by fans, for the fans'. We work on bringing you the latest chapter of Ouran High School Host Club in English from it's Japanese original. It's quite a process to translate, clean the pages, and make it look all pretty for a release, so thanks for bearing with us each month!

Q. How can we contact you about questions/releases/problems/etc etc?

A. You can email us at musicroom3@gmail.com. There's also an Ouran fansite forum we all frequent where we actually all met one another, it's at krysyuy.net/forums. The names you see on this site are the ones we use there, so every once in a while you might see us around.

Q. When do the Ouran chapters come out? / When do you release them?

A. The chapters come out in the Japanese magazine LaLa around the 24th of each month. Depending on how much talking and sound effects there are, depends on how quickly we can work on it. Just take a look at our twitter feed on the main page to see what stage we're at. Usually what takes the longest is the cleaning and sometimes typesetting, so once you know the cleaning is done you can expect the chapter to be out soon. :)

Q. Does your twitter feed follow what you do in real time?

Q. Twitter is very helpful to us in keeping you guys updated on our progress as we work on each chapter. But, it doesn't exactly follow us to a T. Here's an example to understand what I mean, we may post something like 'working on cleaning' and then 10 hours later something may be posted 'halfway done cleaning'. It does not exactly mean it took us 10 hours to clean half (although in some cases it is true), but I just wanted to note that we do sleep, eat, and do other life things. So during those 10 hours, who knows what we could be doing. The point of the twitter is just so you guys can know what stage we're at at certain times. :) Just don't depend on it to predict when we'll be done.

Q. What is your process for scanlating the chapter?/What is scanlating?

Q. Scanlating basically means taking the Japanese chapter and turning it into the English one you see released from us. It starts out with a raw of the chapter, if you don't know what raw means, think 'raw meat'. It's the original/purest form before anyone does anything to it. Once we get our hands on the magazine LaLa from Japan we scan in the chapter and the translating starts. While that is getting done, the cleaners are at work editing the pages so that they look all nice and pretty (you should see how the originals look - they are very dusty and grainy hence why we 'clean' them). Once the translation is done, the proofreaders look over it to make sure it makes sense and is in proper English. Once that is done, and the cleaning, then the cleaned pages and translation is sent to the typesetters. And that's when the magic of teamwork begins! The typesetters put all the fancy text you see onto the cleaned pages using the proofread translation. It's a long (but fun) process. If you ever want to try doing this yourself just look up some tutorials and find some good friends. :)

Q. What is your secret to getting such high quality pages?

Q. Haha believe me it's no secret. But to go into detail would be troublesome when there are some awesome tutorials out there. :) Just search on google 'scanlation tutorial' and a bunch of them will pop up.

Q. Why don't you answer my email?!! I sent you like 10!!

A. SORRY SORRY!! It's my fault, I'm in charge of the email and sometimes I just forget...so yeah if you get a response like two weeks late that's my fault. "OTL ~ HK

Q. How many volumes are there for Ouran?

A. As of August 1st 2010, there are 16 volumes in Japanese, and 14 in English.

Q. I can't see/hear the music player.

A. You may need to install Quicktime Music Player in order to hear it. It's a free application that plays music and such, rest assured it causes no harm to have and is quite easy to install. Or, your browser could be the problem. As of 7/24 the only browser I have found to not work with the player is Google Chrome. And not only that, but apparently a lot of sidebars show up making the page come out all ugly D:. I suggest using Firefox, or Internet Explorer to view this site. But if you're unsure of what the music player should look like, it should appear like this http://i30.tinypic.com/20z1bq1.png at the bottom of this page. If it still isn't working for you, you can email us about it.

Q. What song is that on the site?

A. The songs change every so often (usually once a month) but above the music player I always put the name of the song. And every song that is put up is from the Ouran anime itself, so if you look for the name of it through one of the CDs you should be able to find it.

Q. Can I join your team?!!

A. Thanks for the offer, but right now I think we're satisfied with just us. Too many people means too many to depend on. But if we ever end up looking for someone for a position, we'll make sure to announce it.

A. Haha, I know this isn't really a question, but I just wanted to let you all know that we really appreciate all the thanks you give us. :) It helps to motivate us each month. Announcement

Hello, everyone.
We're really sorry to inform you that MR3 scanlation group decided to cease its activity.

The explanation behind this decision is long and painful, all that we can say is that real life proved to be really hard for some of us and, deprived of some of its members, the group is unable to release the chapters.
We would have loved to finish Ouran High School Host Club but since not all the members were here to help, the quality would not have been the one we always gave you which is why we prefer to end our activity with that awesome Final Chapter, so that you will have a good memory of us.

We deeply apologize for this, the majority of the members of the group are quite unhappy with this decision but there is nothing we can do to change it.
For this month's OneShot, Miyu will probably post on her blog a summary of it and the raws for the chapter are already flying around.
We wish we could do more but there are certain things you can't fight against, sadly.

Thank you for the great and incredible support you all gave us during these years. It made us really happy and helped us so, so much...you can't even imagine how much.
We do really love you, it was, for some of us, the best experience ever.

We hope to meet you again someday, somewhere.

[news] ouran lala special

In Lala Special out November 10th, there will be some extra Ouran stuff, the main thing being an extra short chapter. Miyu has said the special will most likely take place before the end, but we'll just have to see when it comes out. :) So here are the two preview images about the special that was shown in Lala after the final chapter.

Well, we are both excited and sad to release......the final chapter of Ouran High School Host Club! It's been a long journey for us, not only scanlating but following this wonderful series in both manga and anime form. We picked it up when no one else would, and we're glad we got to share our love for it! Thanks for sticking by us, we'll make an announcement eventually about our plans for future. :) But for now, I think you'll want to read this chapter!

Also because of circumstances beyond our control, we no longer upload the chapter to any online reading site. So the only way to get it from us is to download here directly, we know nothing of any site that hosts our scanlations. If you happen to find one that's great, but we take no part in uploading it and we don't know of any to share. :)

Ouran Update! (and other stuff)

The Lala issue for this month as arrived! Sadly Ouran won't officially continue until next month, but we do have a preview for whats to come! You can view the two preview images at our Twitpic here: http://twitpic.com/photos/musicroom3

Going by the preview, Ouran is most likely to end in three issues! So we're assuming chapter 83 may be the finale. Since the next chapter will be 52 pages, hopefully the last two will be also! We'll keep you posted with any information we find out, but for now enjoy the previews~

Also, I guess we should address the whole scanlating fiasco going on. You can check out the article here: ANN

Basically the manga companies are uniting together to stop scanlations and the sites that host them. As you can see Mangafox no longer has Ouran and other licensed manga on their site. You can still go to Onemanga to view them, which will most likely not be taken down. And of course we have no plans to stop scanlating Ouran, we're here until the end!

But the whole reason this is going down is because the authors and the companies make no money from scanlations. Support their work and buy the licensed copies! We make no money from it either, and we don't plan to try and make money off of it. We're just fans who love this manga as much as you do! We're glad you love what we do, but please support Hatori and buy the legal version when it's available to you. :)

Announcement!
The next chapter of Ouran won't be out until July 24th. We aren't sure if that will be the last chapter, or the beginning of the 'final part'. But in the June issue of Lala there will be a new update on Ouran so hopefully we'll know by then!
